These are a few of my favorite things

Updated: Jul 29, 2021

I was at the doctor’s office the other day and happened up on the December issue of O Magazine. Of course, the first section I turned to was Oprah’s Favorite things. Immediately, I started looking up a lot of the great gifts for others and (who am I kidding?) myself. Lots of really good food, clothes, gadgets. That list inspired me to write a blog about some of favorite safety things. While I can’t recommend specific products, maybe you’ll be inspired to buy one for someone on your gift list. These are truly gifts that keep on giving.

1) Bike helmet. This is a relatively inexpensive gift for ALL bike riders (adults and kids) on your list. Using one reduces the likelihood of experiencing a brain injury after a crash by more than 80%.

2) Smoke Detectors (or fresh batteries for ones already installed). Such important safety devices for everyone’s home. Having a working smoke detector in your home decreases your risk of dying in a fire by 50%.

3) Carbon Monoxide Detectors – Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless but deadly so everyone needs a detector in their home.

4) Wearable blankets – Is a family with an infant on your gift list? Wearable blankets are a great gift because they keep the baby warm and cozy without exposing them to the risks of loose blankets and comforters.
